This week I was scheduled to share an updated family portrait taken in our new town of Happy Valley – Goose Bay. But instead, I’m going to take a somewhat more somber approach– please bear with me.
You see, a couple days ago the world lost a hero. No, I’m not exaggerating. Chick served in WWII as a Lancaster Bomber navigator and completed 35 missions. He had a city street named after him, continued to dedicate his time to the 420 Wing Air Force Association, and was awarded the Canada 150 Volunteer Medal for his ongoing efforts. He was also humble, kind, and had stories to turn your ears red. I was fortunate enough to have gotten to know him during my own time with the 420 Wing, and I smile to think of what a well-lived life he led. This is my small tribute to his life.
PS: This photograph of Chick was not taken by me, and is being used from the 420 Wing Air Force Association.
