Last Friday brought us to downtown Toronto for Ashley and Tyler’s incredible Steamwhistle Brewery wedding! I can’t say enough good things about this day, which will definitely go down in our books as one of our favourites!
We started at the Delta Hotel, where Ashley, along with her best friends, mom, and mother-in-law overlooked Steamwhistle Brewery as they had their hair and makeup done. Two floors above them, Tyler and all the important men in his life were OF COURSE watching the Jays game, while drinking scotch and cracking jokes. After having some time to relax (which I strongly recommend every bride work into the timeline!) Tyler and the guys slipped into their jackets and made their way out to the terrace to wait for the ladies. But before her big First Look with the handsome Groom, Ashley wanted to take a minute with the man she loved first, her dad! After lots of hugs and words of encouragement, we all made our way out onto the deck where Tyler was waiting for his bride to tell him she was ready. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a couple move as quickly as Ashley and Tyler did, not being able to wait a second longer to share a hug and a kiss as the rest of us looked on from a distance. With the First Look behind them, we moved right into portraits, making our way to Steamwhistle Brewery across the street, where the ceremony and reception would be taking place in a couple hours. While wrapping up one of our final Bridal Party Portraits, we were photobombed in the coolest way– by Sophie Trudeau!– who was kind enough to step in with the wedding party (even thought she was in the middle of an afternoon jog!) when Tyler recognized her and asked her to join them. (They invited her to the wedding later, but unfortunately the Trudeau’s already had plans!) After portraits it was time for the ceremony inside Steamwhistle, which looked absolutely gorgeous. Ashley and Tyler have been together since high school, so it’s no surprise that family and friends (and especially their parents sitting in the front row!) were so, so excited to finally see these two tie the knot! Guests were invited into the front room for cocktail hour while the ceremony site was transformed by the very talented Jennifer Draper and the rest of the team into a stunning reception. The natural brick and beam of the brewery, with crisp white linens, twinkle lights, flowers and succulents, and dozens of candles had every guest “oohing” and “ahhing” as they entered the hall for dinner. After a delicious dinner catered by Marigolds and Onions, heartfelt speeches, and beautiful dances, we stepped outside onto the patio for the oh-so-popular sparkler photos, then came back inside to kick off a heck of a party, complete with lots of beer and wild dancing!
Ashley and Tyler, you truly planned a perfect day, and I’m so grateful that you trusted us to document it!
